"Wittenberg was running with two other GI's over the crest of a hill... He was in the middle and suffered a direct mortar hit. All I saw was the dust from the explosion and out of the cloud the other two guys were still running and there was no sign of Wittenberg. I always wondered who the other guys were".

Nick Botsis was my uncle. Your listing here incorrectly identifies him as from Holland, Missouri -- that should be Holland, Michigan (MI)(USA). My nephew and I will travel to the Netherlands to visit the memorial the end of this month (May 2009)to send photos to my 85 year old father, Nick's brother, who is also a WWII veteran.
